Hello.

I’m Olive.

Since the age of 16, I’ve been diagnosed with: Fibromyalgia, Endometriosis, IBS, chronic fatigue and in the last 5 years I’ve developed pelvic floor dysfunction, arthritis and a bulging disk in my lower back by not being treated properly (I’ve been going for lidocaine injections every week for the last 3 years where I have to endure injections all over my body). It’s not easy, but I’m trying my best to deal with it all.

With these things combined I’m very sensitive to light and sound to the point of chronic migraines and I can’t access the kinds of treatment that can at least provide me some kind of relief. Disability coverage or OHIP does not cover things like Emgality (which can cost hundreds of dollars a month). Due to these costs, I have to go for months without accessing the kind of care that we all deserve.

It’s been so hard - to try & socialize in groups without being overwhelmed. To just have a day where I am able to walk outside in the sun without experiencing headaches & being forced inside & having to dim the lights & lie around in discomfort & pain.

Being able to access basic care can make such a difference in my life. I’m an all-around creative person. I love painting, singing, modelling, repairing art, and doing hair. I’ve done hair professionally for the last 9 years and because of my disabilities I can’t do it full time anymore, so it’s been a struggle to maintain any kind of savings.

I was able to work for a brief time & found it super exhausting & frustrating. I’m trying really hard & pushing through enormous fatigue & pain but it’s just so much to take on, on my own.

Recently, even though I qualify & have provided all necessary documentation & proof to the government of Ontario, my Ontario Disability Support Program application was rejected.

It’s exhausting & disheartening to have to apply & to wait & to know you qualify & somehow don’t receive the support.

I’ve decided to challenge the ruling & will need to find a lawyer to prove my case. It’s going to be a rough time the next while so I need your assistance.

I’m asking you to help me raise at least the cost of medication + living expenses over two-to-three months while we figure out how to challenge the government for their unfair ruling.

If I can at least get the support to keep going into the winter, we can win our case, I can get on ODSP & hopefully start my journey back to the kind of quality of life we all deserve.
