Untitled

I went to the water and picked up a stone
which had caught my eye. Smooth, a
beautiful ochre, a brick in a past life.

I thought to our trips to sunnyside beach,
you skipped rocks.
the sun warmed my shoulders

Maybe I’ll place it in a bag with banana’s
things?
A sign of a gentleness existing in the
world for you.

A yellow bird from my fingertips knew how
to skim the water’s surface, unlike before.

And it skipped twice.
